When installing updates via Windows Update, you may receive the following error codes: 0x80073701 and 0x800f0988. A message appears to be associated with these codes: “Update failed. Problems occurred while installing some updates, but another attempt will be made later.”

How to proceed to solve the problem ?

Click on the Start button and type “cmd”

Right-click “Command Prompt” and select “Run as administrator.”

The user account control dialog box may appear with the message > “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to the device?” select > ”Yes.”

In the Command Prompt window, type either the following command:

dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

Wait for the command to complete.

Reboot the device.

Check again for the availability of updates.
